What VG/PG ratios mean in vape e-liquid, and how to choose between 50/50, 70/30 and max VG for your device.
What VG and PG are
Vegetable glycerin (VG) and propylene glycol (PG) are the two base liquids in every e-liquid. VG is thick and sweet; produces big vapour clouds; carries flavour more subtly. PG is thin; carries flavour sharply; produces a stronger throat hit; less vapour.
50/50 e-liquid
The standard for pod devices and nic salts. Thin enough to wick through small coils, delivers sharp flavour and a satisfying throat hit at high nicotine strengths.
70/30 (high VG)
For sub-ohm tanks. Bigger clouds, smoother throat hit, mellower flavour. Freebase 3mg territory.
Max VG (80/20 or higher)
Cloud chasers only. Only wicks properly in low-resistance sub-ohm setups.
PG sensitivity
A small percentage of people are sensitive to PG (sore throat, allergic-type reaction). Switch to a higher VG blend if you experience this — but note it is genuinely rare.
